NGPF Podcast: Dwayne Hendricks on his path from the NFL to the classroom
From a storied college career at the U (University of Miami) to several seasons at the NY Giants (which included a Super Bowl Championship), Dwayne Hendricks has seen it all. He's also a humble and giving person who, if you don't ask the right question, would never let on about his athletic accomplishments. So when it came time to determine his life path at the end of his career, it should come as no surprise that he chose to impact young people as an educator and a coach. in this podcast, Dwayne shares why he cares so much about providing his students with the financial skills they need to thrive, what he learned by observing how professional athlete manage their money (and their images) and what leadership traits it takes to win championships. “During that process [of the NFL shutdown] it was relayed by the older guys in the program, like David Diehl, Eli Manning. I remembered them getting up numerous times during that process prior to the lockout saying ‘listen fellas, don’t spend all your money, save your money. You don’t know how long this is going to last. Tim's saving habits started at seven when a neighbor with a broken hip gave him a dog walking job.
