[The Resource] PROJECT: You Decide! Who Gets the Job?
The Gist: In this project, students assume the role of a hiring manager at MusicBeat, a company that produces high-quality headphones. They have to review the resumes and cover letters of three potential candidates and decide who they feel is most suited for the position of a new sales representative.
The Best Parts:
- Your students are familiar with the job application process, but this project allows them to play the other side of the scenario! They now have the hiring power and have to critically review the applicants' resumes and cover letter by identifying pros and cons for each. This helps your students identify strong parts of resumes and cover letters that they can apply to their own documents when applying for jobs.
- After deciding their top candidate for the position, your students will then have to compose emails to all 3 candidates that applied. This will sharpen their writing skills in formal emails for various situations!
