NGPF Announces Scholarship Recipients for Jump$tart National Educator Conference!
NGPF is excited to introduce the following recipients of the NGPF Scholarship to the Jump$tart National Educator Conference, 2017!
Adrienne Deakins, William Penn High School (New Castle, DE)
Adrienne teaches Economics/Personal Finance and AP Economics at William Penn High School in New Castle, DE.
Amy McCutchen, Holmen High School (Holmen, WI)
Amy McCutchen has been a teacher at Holmen High School in Holmen, Wisconsin since 2007. She teaches business classes such as Personal Finance and Accounting. Amy, her husband, and three daughters live in Trempealeau, Wisconsin.
Barbara Angelicola-Manzolli, Lewis S Mills High School (Burlington, CT)
Barbara has been teaching business at Lewis S. Mills H.S. for 15 years. In addition to teaching, she is the co-producer for the annual Mr. Mills show and the co-varsity coach for the Unified Sports team. Barbara was the FBLA advisor for 10 years and she currently mentors the new advisor.
Beth Tollis, Strongsville High School (Strongsville, OH)
Beth works for the Strongsville City School district teaching a semester high school personal finance class. Beth’s undergraduate degree is from Mount Union College and her Master’s from Baldwin Wallace College. She has two daughters who fill up her time outside of school.
Bethany Sevey, Carrabec High School, (North Anson, ME)
Bethany is in her second year teaching the JMG (Jobs for Maine’s Graduates) program at Carrabec High School in North Anson, ME. JMG focuses on career and college preparation through community service, social awareness, leadership development and career development. Financial literacy is a main component of the curriculum.
Brad Baker, Wake Forest High (Wake Forest, NC)
Brad Baker has been teaching social studies for 20 years in North Carolina. The last 5 years he has been teaching Civics and Economics which includes one unit on personal finance. Brad has been trying to incorporate strategies to teach personal finance throughout the entire class, not just one unit.
Brenda Gibson, Ph.D, Northridge High School (Tuscaloosa, AL)
Dr Gibson is a Business/Marketing and Finance Instructor at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr Gibson promotes financial literacy and teaches critical thinking skill-sets that improve the lives of her students and their understanding of the functions of the financial systems.
Brenda Martin-Lee, Seneca High School (Tabernacle, NJ)
Brenda has been teaching for 10 years at Seneca High School. She holds a B.S. in Commerce, a Master’s in Business Administration, and an Educational Leadership certification.
Calvin Chu, Sarah E Goode STEM Academy (Chicago, IL)
Calvin has been teaching for the past 3 years after an earlier career as an accountant/auditor. He enjoys bringing his previous experiences as an accountant into the classroom and incorporating that into his lessons. Calvin grew up in Chicago and, in his free time, likes to hangout out with his wife (who is also a teacher) and his dog, Gus.
Caroline Lundeen, Jackson Hole High School (Jackson, WY)
Caroline teaches Business and Personal Finance at Jackson Hole High School in Jackson, Wyoming. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Vassar College and an M.A. in Curriculum & Education from Montana State University. Prior to teaching, Caroline worked as a financial news analyst in the biotechnology sector.
Christopher Sullivan, Holmen High School (Holmen, WI)
Christopher Sullivan has been teaching at Holmen High School in Holmen, Wisconsin for the past eight years. Mr. Sullivan teaches two finance related courses in Personal Finance and Building Wealth. Before teaching, Mr. Sullivan had successful careers in financial advising and sports marketing.
Colet Pierce, H.W. Byers High School (Holly Springs, MS)
Colet Pierce is a national board certified teacher in a rural Mississippi public high school. She has over 20 years of experience teaching business and computer technology courses. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Mississippi State University, where her dissertation topic is using game based learning as a teaching tool in a high school personal finance course.
Dawanna Jones, Memorial High School (Port Arthur, TX)
Dawanna has been teaching since 2008. She taught Economics and Government her first year of teaching and has been teaching Business & Finance every year since then. It is a passion of Dawanna's to help people understand personal finance so they can live a financially stable life.
Eileen McAnulla, Sussex Central High School (Sussex, DE)
Eileen McAnulla is a teacher at Sussex Central High School in South Delaware. She has taught Social Studies for 27 year, focusing on Economics, Psychology and Personal Finance. She lives at the beach where she enjoys reading by the ocean.
Erica Bush, Mattie Blount T High School (Mobile, AL)
Erica Bush has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. After being in the banking industry for over sixteen years and her company going through a merger, she decided to go into education. Erica is in her second year as a Business Teacher with the Mobile County School System. Altogether, Erica has four years of education experience as Business Instructor.
Erica Mowrer, Juanita Valley High School (Alexandria, PA)
Erica Mowrer is in her first year of teaching business courses at Juniata Valley and in her 9th year overall. Seniors at Juniata Valley are required to complete a personal finance course for graduation which allows the majority of her classes to be comprised of seniors. Having no set curriculum when she entered the district, she found Next Gen and is excited to learn more as she continues to develop her Personal Finance course.
Jacqueline Prester, Mansfield High School (Mansfield, MA)
Jacqueline Prester is a business and technology teacher at Mansfield High School. She was the 2015 Massachusetts Business Teacher of the Year and currently serves on the Board of Directors for both MassCUE and MBEA, and co-founded Edcamp Southeastern Massachusetts. Her passions include financial literacy, entrepreneurship, instructional technology, STEM integration, and the Red Sox!
Jennifer Vail, MOT Charter High School (Middletown, DE)
Jennifer has taught for the past 15 years at the both middle school and high school levels teaching Social Studies, English Language Arts, and most recently Economics and Personal Finance. Prior to working in education, for 9 years she held various operational and marketing positions in the banking industry.
Kalib Moore, Monmouth Academy, (Monmouth, ME)
Kalib hails from the small city of Bath, Maine and is passionate about teaching, outdoor recreation, and reading. Kalib graduated in 2015 from the University of Maine at Farmington and completed his first year of teaching during the 2016-17 school year at Monmouth Academy in Monmouth, Maine.

Lexi Shafer, Johnston High School (Johnston, IA)
Lexi Shafer is a business and technology teacher at Johnston High School in Johnston, Iowa. Lexi has her MBA, a degree in Finance and Business Education, and is very passionate about teaching students about how to be successful, financially independent adults.
Linda Wenndt, The Alabama School of Fine Arts (Birmingham, AL)
Linda has been teaching for 17 years. Her classes have included Geometry, PreAlgebra, Honor’s Physical Science, Astronomy, Epidemiology, Biology, and most recently Financial Algebra. Linda has a passion for teaching teens how to be productive, responsible adults.
Lisa Sprenkle, San Jacinto High School (San Jacinto, CA)
Lisa has been a teacher of Mathematics at San Jacinto High School since 2006. She graduated Cal State San Bernardino with a BA in Mathematics in 2002 and graduated Cal Poly Pomona with an MS Economics (Finance Emphasis) in 2014. Lisa is excited to bring financial literacy to her campus.
Lois Stoll, Benjamin Logan High School (Bellefontaine, OH)
Lois Stoll is a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Benjamin Logan HS in Bellefontaine, OH. Next year she will be teaching a new course called Career and College Readiness which will embed Personal Finance in with necessary skills to transition to post high school life.
Lori Coon, Sherrard High School (Sherrard, IL)
Lori Coon has been teaching business education at Sherrard High School for the past 24 years. She has been a cheerleading coach and is the Junior Student Senate advisor that is in charge of Prom. Lori sits on the Sherrard Academic Foundation board and helps plan their fundraisers. This will be her 2nd year teaching personal finance and she always looking for new resources to incorporate in her class.
Lori Duggan, South Park High School (South Park, OH)
This is Lori’s first year as a Personal Finance Teacher. For the last five years, she has taught Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Lori loves incorporating real world examples and making real world connections for her students.
Lynne Gillis, Huntingtown High School (Huntingtown, MD)
After beginning her career in the Fairfax County Public School, Lynne Gillis now teaches business, management and finance courses. She currently teaches Financial Literacy, a one-semester, mandatory course for all Calvert County Public School students, Principles of Business Administration and Management, Advanced Business Management and Management Capstone courses.
Maureen Neuner, Pinelands Regional High School (Little Egg Harbor, NJ)
Maureen has been teaching Personal Finance and Computer Applications for the past 10 years at Pinelands Regional Junior High School in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. She is very fortunate to be able to combine her degree in Accounting with Business Education to help prepare students to become financially responsible citizens. Maureen loves teaching Personal Finance because she believes it is one of the most important skills we can pass on to younger generations.
Marty Kirby, Hamtramck Public Schools (Hamtramck, MI)
Marty is the Athletic Director for Hamtramck Public Schools where he oversees the athletic departments for both our high school and middle school. Marty has spent seven years teaching Social Studies where he was the only teacher teaching Economics in the building. His lessons were focused on personal finance because it was here he could give his students real world and meaningful lessons.
Michael Ann Rivera, Southeastern High School (South Charleston, OH)
Michael Rivera is a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher from South Charleston, Ohio. With a master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology, she has been able to engage students in her classroom especially with the use of the resources from NextGen Personal Finance. As a recipient of a scholarship to the Jump$tart National Educator Conference, she hopes to expand her knowledge of personal finance.
Molly Phillips, Dover High School (Dover, DE)
Molly Phillips is high school teacher at Dover HS in Dover, DE. She is currently in her 13th year of teaching. Molly teaches US History, Sociology, Personal Finance, and Debate. In addition to teaching she also coaches Varsity swimming and lacrosse.
Nancy Labricciosa, Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (Plymouth Meeting, PA)
Nancy Labricciosa has been teaching at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School for 24 years. She teaches Business subjects ranging from Accounting, Legal Systems, Entrepreneurship, Computer Applications, Career Pathways, Internship, etc. Most recently she became the Personal Finance guru.
Patricia Farrior, Selma High School (Selma, AL)
Patricia has worked as a Business Education Teacher in the Selma City School District, at Selma High School for 18 years. She is a graduate of Alabama A&M University, with further study in the area of Education completed at Alabama State University. Patricia is presently working on a M.S. degree from Concordia University in Career and Technical Education.
Patricia Mete, Pomperaug High School (Southbury, CT)
Patricia has been a high school math teacher for 34 years. At Pomperaug High School she has been solely responsible for developing the Personal Finance course and curriculum. The course enrollment is increasing at Pomperaug High school – this year there are so many sections being taught, that Patricia is sharing the load with another teacher.
Raven King, West Greene High School (Mosheim, TN)
Raven King is a Business Education teacher at West Greene High School in Mosheim, TN. Along with being a teacher, she is also the Volleyball Coach and FBLA Advisor. It is Raven's passion to teach, inspire, and mentor her students and athletes.
