New Activity - Prom Pitch Showdown
Introducing: an exciting new activity for your students who are abuzz with prom excitement. In CREATE: Prom Pitch Showdown, students practice budgeting while planning their dream prom.
The Activity
Students take the reins to plan their perfect prom. Working in teams, they decide on a budget and choose their venue, food, decor, and more! The activity includes a Slide Deck that will walk them through each step of the prom planning process.
Finally, each team presents their pitch and the class decides - which prom pitch will win it all?
You can find CREATE: Prom Pitch Showdown on the Budgeting Unit Page.
Customize It For Your Class
This activity can be easily modified for your class - check out the activity answer key teacher tips for suggestions.
For starters, you can adjust the options in the Slide Deck to reflect the pricing in your area. To up the realism, you could require students to look up specific vendors for each category to get more accurate pricing.
You can also introduce new constraints or randomness into the activity. For example, you could…
- Offer discounts for a weekday prom
- Announce that the prom committee didn’t sell enough tickets! How will they cover the deficit?
- Assign different budgets to different teams
We hope you enjoy this new activity - share your best prom pitches in FinLit Fanatics!
