Curriculum Announcement: New Holiday Gifting Activity
What makes a good gift? In INTERACTIVE: Gifting Game Plan, students work together as a “family” to evaluate gift options. Then, they discuss their own gifting experiences, budgeting strategies, and what factors make a gift “make sense”.
The Activity
This 25-minute activity is structured in 4 parts. Students…
- Reflect on their gift experiences and wishlist
- Get into family groups and discuss gift ideas. The adults secretly set a budget
- Research their top gift idea
- Reveal their gift idea to the family
Bonus: To extend the activity, facilitate further discussion using the 10 optional prompts.
This new activity is a fun and inclusive way to celebrate the holidays and keep students engaged before winter break. You can find this activity year-round on the Consumer Skills Unit page.
The Interactive
This activity is designed around the Gifting Sense DIMS SCORE® Calculator. This interactive tool walks students through thinking about a gift idea, from researching the cost to evaluating how it would fit into their lives.
