Curriculum Announcement: 4 New MOVE Activities!
You’ve been asking for more fun high-energy activities like the popular MOVE: Paycheck Scavenger Hunt and MOVE: Credit Musical Chairs. We’re happy to announce: they’re here!
The NGPF Curriculum Team has added 4 new MOVE activities, including 3 scavenger hunts and one musical chairs activity.
MOVE: Car Smarts Scavenger Hunt
This new scavenger hunt covers key content from throughout the Buying a Car Mini Unit, including reviewing vocabulary, analyzing the cost of auto loans, and reading a lease agreement.
This activity follows the same format as NGPF’s other scavenger hunt-style MOVE activities. Students follow a trail of clues to complete a loop - as they solve the question on each Scavenger Hunt Card, their answer will lead them to the next card. They record their answers on the worksheet shown below.
MOVE: Paying for College Scavenger Hunt
In this new scavenger hunt, students read financial aid offers, compare student loan repayment options, and differentiate between the types of federal student loans.
Check out the example Scavenger Hunt Card below. You may notice that the answer at the top of the card does not match the question - that is intentional! Students would have arrived here by answering a question from a different Card. Their answer, "direct subsidized loans" would have brought them to this Card. Then, they would solve the question written here, which leads them to the next Card they should go to.
MOVE: Insurance Policy Pursuit
In this scavenger hunt, students review how insurance policies work. They identify key vocabulary terms, like deductible, coverage limit, and coinsurance, and calculate how much an individual pays on a given claim.
MOVE: Insurance Musical Chairs
In this activity, students review types of insurance using a competitive game of musical chairs.
- The teacher projects a slide with one type of insurance coverage or expense, while students walk around the circle of chairs to music.
- Then, the teacher pauses the music and reveals the second half of the slide, showing a type of insurance.
- If the two terms match, students race to sit down. If the two terms don’t match, students should remain standing.
- Students are eliminated if they moved incorrectly or if there are no chairs remaining
- Repeat until there is only one winner!
